Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Design Engineer (Solar & Battery) to oversee the technical aspects of renewable energy projects, ensuring successful design, implementation, and operation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in renewable energy systems, project management, and leadership, combined with the ability to drive innovation and efficiency in delivering sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Oversight:
- Lead the technical planning, design, and execution of renewable energy projects (e.g., solar, wind, hydro, or biomass)
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental policies.
Project Management:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Manage technical resources, resolve challenges, and implement effective solutions during the project lifecycle.
Innovation and Development:
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance project performance and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, manuals, and reports.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Provide technical input and support during client meetings, tenders, and negotiations.
Team Leadership:
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of excellence.
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in designing and delivering solar PV, battery storage and EV charging solutions.
- Familiarity with National Grid application processes and grid regulations.
- Experience in electrical design and cable sizing, including the use of Amtech software.
- Proficiency in SolarEdge, PV Sol, PV Syst, CAD and Amtech software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and renewable energy technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients and understand their requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Extensive experience in managing renewable energy projects, with expertise in one or more technologies (e.g., solar PV, wind turbines, energy storage).
- Strong understanding of grid connections, energy storage systems, and power generation.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD, GIS, or similar).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on detail and innovation.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards in the energy sector.
Desirable:
- Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
- Familiarity with energy policies, carbon reduction strategies, and sustainability practices.
