Job Summary:
We are looking for a Solar and Battery Design Engineer to join our team and play a key role in designing efficient and cost-effective solar PV and battery storage solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for system design, feasibility assessments, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. This role requires technical expertise, a strong understanding of renewable energy systems, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design solar PV and battery storage systems for commercial and residential projects.
- Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to determine system specifications.
- Develop electrical designs, including single-line diagrams, schematics, and layouts.
- Ensure designs comply with BS 7671, G99, IET Wiring Regulations, and DNO requirements.
- Perform load calculations, cable sizing, and inverter selection for optimal system performance.
- Work with project managers, installation teams, and suppliers to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Utilise industry design software such as PV*SOL, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry standards.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in solar PV and battery storage system design.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and grid connection requirements.
- Proficiency in design software such as PV*SOL, AutoCAD, and Amtech.
- Understanding of battery storage integration and energy management systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
Qualifications:
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy.
- 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification.
- C&G 2391 (Inspection & Testing) certification is desirable.
- Membership of professional bodies such as IET or CIBSE is a plus.
