Job Title: Mechanical Marine Fitter
Location: Southwest of England
Salary: CIS – rates to be determined
Job Type: 6-month contract
Shifts – 24/7 operating hours so 12-hour shifts
About the Role:
We are seeking experienced Mechanical Marine Fitters to join our team. This role involves the overhaul, repair, and maintenance of key marine mechanical components, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overhaul and repair of propeller hubs, shafts, bow thrusters, stabilizers, winches, valves, and pumps.
- Perform detailed inspections, fault diagnosis, and mechanical repairs to ensure components are operating efficiently.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble marine components to meet manufacturer and industry standards.
- Conduct testing and quality checks post-repair to ensure all work meets safety and operational requirements.
- Work collaboratively with engineers and technical teams to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
- While most engine work is outsourced by owners, experience with engine maintenance is beneficial but not essential.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience as a Marine Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, or similar role within the marine industry.
- Strong knowledge of marine mechanical systems, including propulsion and auxiliary systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools for mechanical repairs.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and methodical approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations within the marine industry.
Qualifications:
- Relevant mechanical engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC, or equivalent).
- Marine industry certifications would be advantageous
