Job Advert: Welders (Marine & Structural Steelwork)

Job Type: 6-month contract
Shifts – 24/7 operating hours so 12-hour shifts
About the Role:
We are looking for experienced Welders to join our team, specializing in carbon steel and high-tensile steel (2mm to 30mm). The role involves fillet and butt welding in all positions, working in-situ across various areas of ships, with some workshop welding as required. While 95% of the work involves steel, we also welcome a few welders with experience in stainless steel and aluminium.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality fillet and butt welds in all positions on carbon and high-tensile steel.
- Carry out in-situ welding on ships, ensuring strong, durable welds in challenging environments.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings and specifications.
- Conduct structural repairs and fabrication welding as part of ship maintenance and refurbishment.
- Follow strict health & safety procedures and maintain high welding standards.
- Work collaboratively with platers, fitters, and other trades to ensure seamless project execution.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Welder, ideally in the marine, shipbuilding, or heavy fabrication industries.
- Strong ability to weld carbon and high-tensile steel (2mm–30mm) in all positions.
- Comfortable working in-situ on ships, often in confined spaces or at heights.
- Ability to read and understand technical welding and fabrication drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Desirable:
- Welding qualifications (e.g., coded welding certification) in steel.
- Experience with stainless steel and aluminium welding (not essential but beneficial).
- Knowledge of marine industry welding standards.
