Job Advert: Plumber / Pipe Welder (Marine Industry)

Shifts – 24/7 operating hours so 12-hour shifts
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Plumber / Pipe Welder to join our marine engineering team. The role involves welding pipes ranging from small bore up to approximately 300mm diameter, primarily in carbon steel (90% of the work), with some work in CuNiFe (copper-nickel) and stainless steel. Welding is required in all positions for both butt and fillet welds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Weld carbon steel, CuNiFe, and stainless-steel pipes in all positions.
- Perform butt and fillet welds to high industry standards.
- Work with a range of pipe sizes, from small bore up to 300mm diameter.
- Carry out in-situ welding on ships, often in confined spaces.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and welding specifications.
- Ensure all welding work meets marine industry standards and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with pipeworkers, engineers, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Pipe Welder / Plumber in the marine, shipbuilding, or heavy engineering industries.
- Welding qualifications (coded welding preferred) in carbon steel.
- Ability to weld in all positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead).
- Skilled in butt and fillet welding.
- Experience with CuNiFe and stainless-steel welding (preferred but not essential).
- Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Coded welding certifications in carbon steel, CuNiFe, or stainless steel.
- Knowledge of marine pipework systems and shipbuilding standards.
- Previous experience working in-situ on ships.
