Job Advert: Plater (Marine & Heavy Fabrication)

Shifts – 24/7 operating hours so 12-hour shifts
About the Role:
We are seeking skilled Platers to join our team, working on a range of heavy fabrication projects in the marine industry. The role involves working with carbon steel (2mm to 30mm), performing oxy/gas cutting, weld prepping, flanging, rolling, templating, marking out, and fabrication assembly. You will play a key role in the construction, repair, and insertion of ship structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings to produce high-quality components.
- Cut, shape, and assemble steel structures using oxy/gas cutting and other fabrication techniques.
- Prepare materials for welding, including bevelling and joint preparation.
- Carry out flanging, rolling, and marking out to precise specifications.
- Fit and assemble structural components in line with engineering drawings.
- Insert and reinforce ship structures, ensuring durability and accuracy.
- Conduct quality checks and maintain high safety standards in all tasks.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Plater in the marine, heavy fabrication, or shipbuilding industry.
- Strong ability to read and work from technical fabrication drawings.
- Skilled in oxy/gas cutting, weld prepping, rolling, and structural assembly.
- Understanding of shipbuilding practices and structural integrity principles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Desirable:
- Experience working on ship structures or large-scale fabrication projects.
- Relevant qualifications in fabrication or welding.
