Job Title: Electrical Estimator – Solar, Battery Storage, EV & Maintenance

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator with a strong background in solar energy, battery storage, EV charging infrastructure, and electrical maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analysing project requirements, and ensuring competitive pricing to support business growth. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with in-depth industry knowledge and strong commercial acumen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse tender documents, specifications, and drawings to prepare accurate and competitive estimates for electrical projects.
  • Develop cost estimates for solar PV systems, battery storage solutions, EV charging installations, and electrical maintenance contracts.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to assess project scope and feasibility.
  • Source and liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturers to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Prepare and submit detailed bid proposals, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities to enhance project profitability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to refine and optimise cost estimates.
  • Monitor and review market trends, material costs, and industry regulations to maintain competitive pricing strategies.
  • Assist in contract negotiations and provide support during the project handover process.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within the solar, battery storage, EV charging, and electrical maintenance sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, renewable energy technologies, and maintenance operations.
  • Excellent understanding of electrical design principles, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation and reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) or equivalent.
  • Experience in the renewable energy sector is highly desirable.
  • NEC, JCT contract knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Membership of professional bodies (e.g., IET, CIBSE) is a plus.
